Oliphant 03:54
Send me out to the sea Let the cold waves crash and swallow me Send me out all alone to map oceans and count the stars Send me out to find the sun past the dark coasts where the elephants roam I went outside the sun was bright It said "I hope you can swim. The sky was blue and so were you." The smell of salt The pulsing waves A lighthouse far away But in the dark these lights will fade back into the sea

about

The Wandering Sea is endless. It appears before those who need it most, and it’s powerful currents take you wherever it believes you need to be. I’m still on it.

Oliphant is a song that’s always existed as both acoustic and electric. The first guitar I bought was acoustic, and Oliphant was one of the first songs I had written on it. But even then, I would run it through a fuzz pedal and imagine this big rock song. Over time it evolved, and was eventually the first proper Weird Storms song I’d realized. Actually, for a very long time, it was the only song fully realized. When it became apparent that I was going to make an acoustic record, The Beach Beneath The Beach, I knew Oliphant would clash. My solution was to try and realize this acoustic version of the song that had so long taken a backseat. Although I do feel I succeeded in this endeavor, ultimately I felt like both versions belonged together, so I decided on this single.
